We are thrilled to invite you to our biggest and best-yet all-day dancesport classic at the beautiful Just Dance Ballroom, with a top-notch competition, a quality buffet dinner, and an amazing evening Showcase of Champions. This year's competition will again include events for beginners, seniors and pro-am couples, in addition to social, country & western, show dance, formation team, and International and American style ballroom events. Our evening extravaganza will feature the California State Championship Finals plus a fabulous show created and produced by the always wonderful Jeff Chandler along with plenty of opportunity for social dancing. We're delighted to have once again lined up a quality professional team to handle the competition:
April Follies is again thrilled to offer the Most Fabulous Studio Award. Started in January 09 at the Dancing in the River City Sacramento competition, the trophy goes to the studio that brings the most contestants to April Follies. When you register, be sure to indicte the studio/group to which you belong. The 2012 Richard Lamberty Trophy will be awarded to a person who has contributed significantly to the same-sex dance community and who best embodies the spirit of same-sex dancesport. The trophy is designed to honor Richard's contributions to these ends. Anyone can be nominated, and any person can nominate whomever they believe deserves this honor. The winner will be decided by a committee based on information provided to April Follies. Help us give public recognition to those who have helped create our wonderful same-sex dance community! Nominations must be submitted by April 8. Professional Photos of Competitors A professional photographer will be onsite and available to take photos of competitors both posed and while dancing. Sign up when you arrive with Shell Jiang, who will be located near the registration table. Shell will have examples of her past work available to show you. |
Doors open at 9 am, Competition starts at 10 am sharp, and we plan to end by 5:30 pm. Click here to see an approximate schedule of events. A more detailed schedule will be distributed at the event. Listed below are the dances included in the competition. For details and rules on each dance, please refer to the Rules document. Please review the rules carefully before registering--some new events have been added, and some of the rules have changed. Note especially the various multi-dance events!
Please be sure to review April Follies Rules and Policies. A few changes have been made to ensure compliance with NASSPDA's competition rules for same-sex ballroom competitions. We are very proud that April Follies Competition has been officially sanctioned by the North American Same-Sex Partner Dance Association and authorized by NASSPDA to offer the 2012 California Championship Titles.
